Default Boxster Ignition Switch Replacement

I have a 2002 Boxster S and the key is stuck in the ignition. I've been looking online and it looks like I need a new ignition switch. I've tried to pull the "easy to remove" switch based on instructions from PelicanParts.com website but no such luck. Couple of questions...

1) Have you done this on your own before and is this an easy job or one where it pays to take the car into the shop?

2) If the DIY option is still on the table, do you know of a good website that shows how to do this job (hopefully with pictures)?

3) How does one get the stuck key out of the old ignition switch and do you need new keys with the new ignition switch?

4) If you have done this job, where did you buy your new switch?

5) If the DIY option is too much hassle, where did you take your car to have this fixed (in NOVA)?

Thanks

Search around this board. Several of us including me have had to do this a couple of times. It is an easy procedure once you get access to the back of the ignition assembly. Small hands and the ability to work in tight places are the key.
(pun intended)

Default Thanks!

Ken,

Thanks for the links. I didn't catch the most critical one the first time I hit the site (I'm new to this board). I will give the ignition switch replacement a go!

Best.

Jim
