mike, can you post a link to the thread chaser you found?
actually, for the stud remover tool as well, looks much better than mine i switched to titanium lug bolts last year on the cayman just switched the boxster too they may not make a difference, but they look nice http://www.acerracing.com/ACERLug_Ti...lts-128-1.html makes me wonder, why are there no titanium racing studs / nuts for porsche?

you mean there is a high probability of messing up threads
all the more reason for ti studs and lug nuts, once installed you are only 'working with' ti to ti or are you saying ti to steel is just a bad idea in general? is there some di-electric thing happening or something? sorry, galvanic corrosion?

Titanium is generally not a great material for fasteners. Even titanium-to-titanium has issues with the material "self-welding" to itself under compression (e.g., when tightened). When it does, the material "rips" rather than disengages smoothly, which is what galling is. This also occurs titanium-to-steel, aluminum or other metals.
Stainless steel has similar issues, but not as badly. ed
