That is old school, before every soccer mom drove a truck. I used to tow a boat all over creation with an Oldsmobile 98.

I remember checking what the towing capicity was for Crown Vic's a while back. I was expecting a big number, but was disapointed.

IIRC the real issue is the lack of a frame. Which means nothing more substantial than the trunk floor to mount a decent hitch. Seems like mid to late ‘70s was the last of the big US sedans w/actual frames. That said I towed a camping trailer all over the eastern US and Canada with a Merc Topaz for many years. From the outer banks to Thunder Bay and as far west as Minnesota our kids grew up “roughing” it in a Star Craft popup!

A former Aston Martin manager at the dealership was all into them. Had a nice one shipped over from the other side of the pond at some point. A bit much for what you get from my view but the same could be said for many older Porsches too
