Damn..... I just last week bought a set of replacement Pirellis for my daughter's Tiguan and if I had known they were using Yoko as a calendar girl, I would have bought the Continientals. I feel cheated....

A few thoughts...

1) Annie Leibovitz is a truly remarkable though I am less in love with this collection than others.

2) I too fail to see how these images tie into the Pirelli brand. They could have at least made some effort to build a bridge or two.

3) I would love to see a calendar that features "the sport" and other "objects of desire" - but both male and female as Martin suggested. I love the idea of using strong PEOPLE, but hey give us something that makes us feel GOOD THINGS (be it I want to be them or I want to kiss them) about being STRONG. There is real sadness in this collection.

4) We all KNOW that when Amy Schemer showed up for the shoot she said something like "I didn't come all this way to NOT get naked!"

When a nearly infinite supply of pics of attractive, scantily-clad or naked women are just a few mouse clicks away, maybe it is time to try something different?

hey reasonable minds can disagree, but facts are facts. I am speaking from first hand experience. I've done about 70 track days in two years all over the place, so my sample size is good. PCA, private, etc.. you name it.

misogynist culture that legitimatizes the objectification of women and girls is glorified every race weekend on TV. the DE/club scene is more subtle, but stunningly apparent. i could say the same, but the way, about a LOT of sporting events. motorsports is bad but i imagine (sadly) about par for the course.

one of the things I love about racing is no classes for gender. just drivers. the next time you think I'm alarmist or a blathering feminist, consider the following data...

----------

every two minutes an American (~90% women) is raped or sexually assaulted.

nearly 6M women are beaten by partners every year, or one every 9 seconds.

38M American women, right now in the US, have been victims of physical intimate partner violence.

----------

not saying calendars are the cause, obviously, but they are emblematic of a horrifying epidemic of misogyny and violence against women (and LGBT Americans) in our country. the more we discuss it, the more we say something, the less it happens.

Right now, every two minutes, another American is sexually assaulted. Helps to say it out loud then imagine that's your family or friend. You'll be inspired to speak up on these issues and call out bullshit when you see/hear it.

Pirelli calendars are supposed to be both collectable and hard to get huh? I'm thinking they may have a few extras laying around at the end of 2016

But hey.. there's always the latest Wurth Calendar if you can find it!

No one is saying your position is unreasonable on the issue you are advancing and I would venture that everyone here agrees with you, men and women and any others alike.

I'm just saying Pirelli isn't exactly the exemplar you're trying to make it out to be - excepting their obvious ability to make people forget about all their other marketing efforts with a single calendar.

I think it will look great in your office.
