A couple of "old timers" here on the board may remember Kevin Moak trying to do that on a 911 with his fingers at a track grid for HPDC. the car owner I believe did eventually get all the blood stains off his motor!

I see you know the trick too. It id not hard to do and keep your fingers. Off is easy but the guy goes after the belt a bit faster that I am comfortable with. If you move the screwdriver right the belt flips off the pulley right onto it. On requires a bit of timing of the screwdriver. The worst thing that happens is the screwdriver gets chucked to the uphill side. Long thin slightly flexible screwdriver

That was a while ago. Maytag man and the Diabolically Damaged Digit. Not a good thing to run your finger through the AC belt pulley. The end of his finger never did heal right. Lesson learned for a group of us was to keep your non busy hand out of the motor compartment when concentrating on the busy hand. Kevin's hand wandered into harms way while "unattended".

That trick is the perfect set up for those famous last words: "hey, hold my beer and watch this..."

Hey, On my old '71 Bus that was a great trick. Thankfully I never tried it.
