Default Booster seat?

So my guy is pushing 5, is pretty tall and weighs in around 45 lbs. With that said, I feel like I am just squishing him in the back seat of the 911 in a car seat. With that said, I also feel like being stuck in the back seems to be the most unsafe place in an already unsafe car.

I would really love to get him in a booster and get him tied in nice and tight up front with me. To all of you with kids, did you ever have to go down this road?

My kids have ridden in the front seats since they were in front facing boosters. no airbags=no problems. I am sure "others" will let you know what they think of your parenting skills, but there is no legal reason why they can't be up front.

We started with Britax Marathon boosters that worked ok. As the kids got big enough to use a 3-pt vs a harness, I got one that looked like this (but not denim):

By Britax. "retired" by Britax due to age (6-7+ years old at this point) -also likely because there's not enough bubble wrap around the contents
Got it from another Dorki. Its nice and narrow. I don't have Porsche Sport seats but it looks like it would fit between the side bolsters. It also fits well on the bottom cushion. Great fit on stock 914 and base 911/944 seats though.

I have been using a Recaro Milano booster in the front seat of my 89 911 for my son since he was about 5. Fits great and he loves it. Looks like a little racing seat.

Wow..that is one cool seat. Too bad it seems to be out of print here in the states. Dave, are you running sport seats?

I picked this up in Germany a few years back. I have standard seats however it would fit up front in my Cayman when I had GT3 seats and the air bag deactivation switch installed. I would sell it to you but I have 2 other little ones that will get some use out of it.

I don't like to stuff my 5-YO in the back either. She often accompanies my to Katie's CC in the front with Porsche's child seat and a Y-harness. The racing harness is a little heavy for her and I'm looking for a lighter alternative.

My big obstacle is my wife. She thinks the back is safer but Im just not so sure. I want the guy up front with me so he can see the road and really soak it all in.

yup.. all those parenting magazines have an impact. Ask her where they put the kids when they ride on a pickup with only 1 bench seat? leave em loose in the bed? of course not. Safe is relative. Can't see the rear seat of a 911 being more or less safe than the front (unless there is an airbag concern).

That Recaro Milano looks a lot like my Britax (general size/shape) which is why it works in narrow seats or wide ass minivan captain chair seats
