Default Kendall vs SWEPCO Gear Oil for 915s

I'm running Swepco, but curious if anyone has switched to Kendall for their 915s and what the outcome has been? Any strong opinions in either direction? There is a thread on pelican about this, and its the second time in recent weeks that this topic has come up for me - suggesting Swepco may not be the best choice.

TIA

Yeah I just read all 22 pages and I am going to say they are both fine.
Have you read the last post from Matt at guard transmissions?

I used Swepco 201 for years in my '84 Carrera's 915 gearbox. I decided to try Kendall dino 80W90 last fall when I changed my transmission gear oil.

Both Swepco and Kendall are GL-5 rated and are fine for the 915. IMHO the Kendall shifts a little easier...especially in the winter.

You can not go wrong using either Swepco or Kendall in the 915 gearbox. I think Kendall may be my preferred gear oil going forward. Try the Kendall...I think you will like it.

The mechanic who rebuilt my transmission about 4 years ago and did some additional work this year told me that he's seen some wear issues with 915s running Swepco. It was enough of a correlation that he put different gear oil in my transmission. Car felt great for the one event that I've driven since the change, but I guess we'll see over time.

I'll try to dig up the type of gear oil he used.

You know you should change that every 2 years, 1 year if tracked.....

Yes,I have really noticed a lot of
transmissions coming to me that are in need of repair that had Swepco
in them...I have typically used,Mobil1,redline,BG..I used the Redline
75/90 NS in your trans. And I have been using that almost
exclusively now.I have only used Swepco if people have brought me the
oil to use...I have had great success with the Redline and have even
solved some of the 'gear clashing' in the 993/996 transmissions if its
not too excessive...
