Default Short race report - Day 1 of 3.

Sorry, but no video. Somehow I forgot to delete off my old video. Figured that out at the grid.

Qualified well (4th) in a big field (26 SRFs).

For the race, I got a great start and jumped around the #2 car and entered T1 in second. Raced to T3 and gave up a spot (to Elizabeth Miller) settled into third. For a few laps, the top three was a constant cycle of passing. I mostly hung in 3rd but held 2nd. Our fight allowed a fourth car to catch us (Brian Sullivan of CNBC ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brian_S...n_(news_anchor). The four of us swapped spots for about 10 laps. It's CRAZY up front. I did stuff I never did before. Side-by-side in T4, crazy late braking in T1. Then I overestimated my skills in T3 and ended up shooting off into the gravel / grass. I re-entered still in fourth. A lap later I was back with the front three and glanced at the gauges. I was overheating badly. The grass had clogged the radiator opening. I pulled in and asked someone to sweep it out. I went back out in 21st (ugh) and got 2 laps in, ending up 19th of 26. Temps came down to normal and I backed up just to hold position (nobody was behind me).

Self Diagnosis: Concentration problem. If I had kept my sh!t together I would've been more conservative and would have had a top 4 finish and possibly podium. I had no business going hot into T3 and while lucky to get out in 4th, I had doomed my race (and may have hurt my motor).

Two more races. I hope the motor's OK. We shall see.

Despite the issue that dropped your position, I bet it was the most fun race of your life!

Congrats for running so well.

Greg, huge congrats on your second place finish on Sunday! We were on the outside of turn 8 and saw some great dicing. Don't know too many SRF drivers so we were pulling for the "dorki." You picked off cars consistently and may have had something for the leader if the race had gone another lap or two. Hope you got some video!

Congrats again...

Day 2 of 3 video. Sunday race. Qualified 10th, finished 2nd. My first podium!!!

PS: Car #2 (white) is a C-list celebrity, Brian Sullivan, CNBC Anchor.

PPS: After three days of close racing at Summit, the car is absolutely battered. Body cracks, tire marks, dirt, grease and who knows what else. Last night I gently rolled her into her spot in the garage, apologized profusely for the thrashing, and promised a spa treatment for next weekend. Race cars are like women ...

Day 3 of 3. Started 5th. Bad driving + bad luck dropped me to 10th, then crawled back up to 5th for the finish.
