Didn't everyone know that? Porsche was an electricity nut before becoming a car nut. He rigged his house up for electricity himself when he was a kid.
He also made a version that had AWD with the wheel-mounted generators on all four wheels...cool stuff.

edit: whoops, I guess all that was listed in the article...probably should have read it before posting, ah well.

Might be one of the reasons he spent so many months in a French detention camp after the war as his son started the car company
