Show me why not.

I may, very soon, have the opportunity to blow some needless wealth (or needlessly blow some needed wealth) on an Alfa Romeo 4C. Let's say it's gonna cost me $65,000.

For that money (or less) name a car (new or used or classic) that I could have gotten that I will enjoy as much and maybe more.

It'll be a "fair weather" car so it needs to be civilized and not delicate -- something I'd drive on the Beltway on a sunny work day.

I am surprised that a well used Audi R8 is still a ton more expensive than that. A nice air-cooled 911 might fit the bill. Maybe a 2008 Mercedes GLK-AMG Black?

Have you considered a 944?

A dozen 944s?

How about a used 2003-6 Maserati Cambiocorsa? They are about the price of a Gen 1 Cayman and have four seats. High upkeep but its a Ferrari! And, you would still have $35K in cash.

Repeat with a same era BMW M5 :)

996GT2s might be in your range. Awesome street machine!

The current Car and Driver has a brief commentary about the 4C. As I recall they were not happy with the behavior of the automatic transmission under hard driving (track). Everything that I have read about the 4C suggests that it is rather the opposite of "civilized and not delicate."

^x2. I've not heard great things about the car. Have you considered a new Boxster S (or base Boxster with PDK for similar money)? Sure, there are more of them, but there's a reason for that!

F355 in a nice dark color. It is just the car for the man who desires the finer things without drawing too much unwanted attention.
