Ooohhh... Wurth satin black? How fancy - you looking for a concours win? I though Krylon was good enough for you ghetto-fab types.

Just a quick question without much thought.
Can you powder coat wheel centers without removing the tires?

BillJ 04-05-2005 01:28 PM

Not unless you want a big ugly gooey mess methinks... What temp does powdercoating need?

Me thinks oven is 350-400 degrees

400 degrees F or thereabouts.

Interesting stuff. I, of course, for got to ask them about powdercoating wheels.

ASC knows their stuff. I showed up with the Targa Bar skin and she was like "oh, the flat one, did you take the rubber spacers out of the back?"

Out of all those fancy colors, I picked Raven black. She said a lot of Porsche guys go there, don't know if she was talking about this crowd or there's undicovered Dorkis out there. :)

Future and past. Linda and I have used them for a lot of stuff in the past. We were even going to have them do an entire 356 tub ($600 some years ago). They showed us an E type they were working on and a mess of corner mailboxes. They’ve done roll bars, fish tank stands, old time sewing machine stands and of course 911 parts. All well done, all on time etc, etc.

Sorry to bring this old thread back up. I am having trouble finding a local machine shop that will shave half a mm off my blades before getting them powder coated. Any local "experts" willing. Can bring it up to HPDC tomorrow/Sunday.

I used a sanding block to take a 'little' off of the end of the blades before they were powder coated. But I found that the thickness of the powdercoating on the end of the blades was more than I had taken off before hand so there was some inteerrference with the housing when I tried to install the fan. Soooo.... I used the same sanding block to sand off the powdercoating from only the end of the tips of the blades. I can't even see the difference with it installed. Only time will tell if I get any chips later. My $0.02. :)
