After 3 years I finally decided to get 116 to the dyno. I had no complaints about the performance, just wanted "to know"
I asked Charlie Murphy at Intersport who I trust implicitly and he sent me to John Behe of Behe Performance. John, like Charlie has been around racing a loooong time. He can tune anything with a computer or burn chips for those computers that are not programable. He uses the Dynapack dyno which takes the place of the two rear tires and is much less stressful on the drivetrain than the in ground roller type dynos. John has state of the art tuning software that was mind boggling to watch during the process. He tunes 944s(turbos and N/A), 911s(turbos and N/A), everything American, and most things foreign. He is also dam good mechanic. The shop is about 20 minutes north of Olney on Rt 97, which is Georgia Avenue extended. The physical address is 2480 Rt. 97, Glennwood, MD 21738. Phone number 410-489-0230. If you call tell him you got his name from Charlie and mention the guy with the V8 powered 944. You will not be disappointed. Marc

Sorry . . . . the initial pull came in at 297hp/264tq at 5200. The final numbers are 352 hp/335tq at 5200 rpm. I don't know why the dyno stopped at 5200 except the torque curve was starting to fall off. John attributed this to my exhaust system that reduced the 3" header out put to 2.5" pipe. He said that I should have run 3" pipe.
In the final run, the important numbers were 327ft/lbs at 2400 rpms (just coming out of turns) and 355ft/lbs at 4200 rpms (shortly after coming out of turn on to a straight). Needless to say, the additional hp will be nice, but the 71tq increase will make a huge difference on the track . . . that is if I can keep my wheels from spinning

You gained 55 hp from just "tuning"? ...that's pretty cool.

BEHE is good stuff. Even for my lowly 944 NA. We only got a 7-8HP total increase with his tuning, but he managed to flatten out a typical dip in the HP & Torque curves with these engines, so that the car "feels" stronger coming out of the corners.
I guess the word is getting out. ....but 352HP at the wheels in a 944!

The scary part is that John said there is more to get once the exhaust is fixed and timing is tuned. He also set the AFR to a very conservative average just over 12, which could be leaned out some for more power.
